创作背景

1985年的春天，莱昂纳尔在完成《We Are the World》之后，又应邀为电影《飞越苏联》谱写一首同名的主题曲。影片讲述了一个苏联叛变者逃到了西方，而一个美国叛变者因理想的破灭又逃到了苏联的故事。

莱昂纳尔花了两个星期的时间，发现自己无法写出那样的一首歌，不过倒是谱成了另外一首他觉得可能很适合该片剧情的歌曲，那也就是《Say You，Say Me》。导演泰勒·海克福德听过之后，也非常喜欢，并决定放在片子结尾
