Film encompasses indivial motion pictures, the field of film as an art form, and the motion picture instry. Films (also referred to as movies or motion pictures) are proced by recording photographic images with cameras, or by creating images using animation techniques or visual effects.

Films are cultural artifacts created by specific cultures, which reflect those cultures, and, in turn, affect them. Film is considered to be an important art form, a source of popular entertainment and a powerful method for ecating — or indoctrinating — citizens. The visual elements of cinema give motion pictures a universal power of communication. Some films have become popular worldwide attractions by using bbing or subtitles that translate the dialogue.

Films are made up of a series of indivial images called frames. When these images are shown rapidly in succession, a viewer has the illusion that motion is occurring. The viewer cannot see the flickering between frames e to an effect known as persistence of vision, whereby the eye retains a visual image for a fraction of a second after the source has been removed. Viewers perceive motion e to a psychological effect called beta movement.

The origin of the name "film" comes from the fact that photographic film (also called film stock) has historically been the primary medium for recording and displaying motion pictures. Many other terms exist for an indivial motion picture, including picture, picture show, moving picture, photo-play and flick. A common name for film in the United States is movie, while in Europe the term cinema is preferred. Additional terms for the field in general include the big screen, the silver screen, the cinema and the movies.

…'The Terminal' is the latest Hanks/Spielberg collaboration, and though it's not quite as good as 'Catch Me if You Can' or 'Saving Private Ryan' it still makes for a fun watch. The plot, as everyone already knows, is about Krakoan (sp?) immigrant Victor Narvorski (Tom Hanks) whose home country – the fictional land of Krakoa (think Russia or Czechoslovakia) – is torn apart in war while he is in a plane headed for New York. When he lands JFK airport head Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci) tells him that since he literally doesn't have a country he must stay in the airport terminal until all the hoopla settles. Dixon thinks that Narvorski will ignore him, escape into New York and 'become someone else's problem'. What Dixon doesn't know is that Victor is an honest man, and he will obey the rules and stay in the terminal until he's allowed to leave.

The character of Victor Narvorski is one of those classic movie characters who has no conceivable flaw (other than a minimal understanding of the world around him – and an accent) and dose everything he can to help everyone else. Similar characters that spring to mind are Peter Sellers' Chauncey Gardner from the 1979 satire 'Being There' and John Goodman's Charlie Meadows from the Coen movie 'Barton Fink'. All of these characters are dim-witted, but great people who put their own lives on hold to help their friends.

Some of these friends include Airport worker Enrique Cruz (Diego Luna), who Victor helps get hitched with a beautiful security guard (Zoë Saldana) and Amelia Warren (Catherine Zeta-Jones) a nice, flighty flight attendant who Narvorski inspires to get out of a troubled relationship with a married man.

The Hanks and Zeta-Jones characters strike up a little romance, but luckily its not too overblown, it's more of a subplot than anything.

It takes sometime but soon Narvorski is accepted into a small group of Airport workers including Cruz, kindly Joe Mulroy (Chi McBride) and janitor Gupta Raja (Kumar Pallana), who at first thinks that Narvorski is a federal agent out to get him. These characters are all well written and even better acted, but I thought they could've been awarded with a little more screen time. After all, the three are very good actors. But I guess Luna is still riding off the success of 'Y U Mama Tambien' and McBride, despite the fact that he's been working for many years, is still trying to find a big role that's right for him (which I doubt he'll get from 'I, Robot').

It's Pallana who has the biggest role here, and man, does he deserve it. Very old, and very foreign, he was brought to surprising cult fame when Wes Anderson gave him the role of 'Pagoda' in the 2001 hit 'The Royal Tenenbaums'. Who doesn't remember the short, quiet, hilarious butler of the Tenenbaum family? His role in this is a great follow-up; he is funny, and surprisingly touching and dramatic in a very tense scene near the end that I wont spoil. In any other movie the role of the Indian janitor would be an easy target, but this character isn't funny because he's Indian, but instead funny because he's clever, a little cynical and wily. He stole every scene he's in from under Tom Hanks, or Zeta-Jones, or whoever. This is a long shot, but I think the man deserves an Oscar nomination.

The acting in this movie is the greatest factor – well, that and the huge Terminal set built only for the movie. Some critics are complaining about an underwritten and underused Catherine Zeta-Jones. Whatever. I call her under-necessary (Note: not UNnecessary, UNDER-necessary). I'm glad that her less-than-interesting character wasn't overused, I'm glad the movie wasn't turned into a straight-out romance.

The films deepest and most interesting character is Tucci's Dixon. On the surface he looks like your usual villain, but that's only to simpleton viewers who don't make any attempt to understand their movie characters. Dixon is not a villain. As it's established in the beginning, Dixon has been working the same job at the airport for seventeen years and wants desperately to climb up the latter. Because of this, he makes sure that he follows every single rule; he's the epitome of every by-the-book bureaucrat that we all love to hate. His motto is that in his work there're three important things, 'The person, the document and the story'. In the best scene of the movie Dixon refuses a Russian man to bring medicine to his dying father in Canada because he doesn't have the right form. This scene represents everything about the character of Dixon.

I was also interested in the relationship between Dixon and Narvorski. Dixon is at first refusing Narvorski because it's the rules, but as the film goes on and Dixon is further perplexed by Narvorski it stops being about rules and starts being about hatred and jealousy for Narvorski's joyful existence. He refuses to let Narvorski go to New York when he should be allowed to. In the film's most fulfilling scene Narvorski escapes and Dixon decides to give up chasing him, and you can see in his eyes that he's realized how ridiculous and stubborn he's been acting. This is Tucci's best performance. An Oscar for him, I say!

It is flawed, of course, in a few things. Narvorski's character is never developed, he stays the same person throughout the entire film, but that's fine, because Hanks keeps your interest and is at his most lovable. Also, the ending stretched on just a little bit…if I had my way it would've ended with Dixon happily watching Narvorski escape in his cab, the rest could've just as easily been implied. I think the ending is a very important part of any film, and this one was – in a way – ruined.

But, no movie is perfect, and I have no problem accepting this as a lighthearted picture with a few interesting characters.

Grant Taylor (Alex Kendrick) is the head coach for the Shiloh Eagles football team at Shiloh
Christian Academy, and has yet to post a winning record in his six-year
tenure. After his seventh season begins, he learns that his Running
Back, tired of losing, has transferred to a rival school as he moved in
with his dad in that school district. Grant is frustrated as this is the
third time he has spent developing key players but having them transfer
schools in their senior year. Consequently the team is discouraged and
write the season off since he was the one who scored a third of their
points last year. Not surprisingly, the discouraged Eagles get shutout
23-0 in their first game.

Larry Childers, who is confined to a wheelchair, and his son David
have recently moved from Athens, GA where David is entering his junior
year at Shiloh. David is a soccer player but Shiloh does not have a
soccer program so Larry encourages him to try out for the football team
as a kicker despite David's reservations. David is nervous e to his
small stature and lack of experience in football, but his dad tells him
not to be afraid of failure. After try-outs, the coaching staff see
promise in him and he makes the team.

In the next game against Dewey County (a game which the Eagles are
favored to win), the team totally falls apart and loses 21-7 frustrating
the coach to the point where he holds a closed door team meeting and
berates the team for giving the game away e to their poor offense as
well as certain players for missing practice as they had detention for
slacking off in class. Later that night when David discusses the game
with his dad, he agreed with the coach and was glad to not have played
that game and get berated, but his dad again brings up the point that he
still has fear in him e to excuses.

With another losing streak, the players' fathers start making noises
about replacing Grant with defensive coordinator Brady Owens (Tracy
Goode) and hold a late night meeting at the school (with Grant secretly
listening). This is not the only problem Grant is facing. Outside of
football, his car is breaking down and he cannot afford to get another
one, some things in his home are not working properly, and he discovers
that he is the reason that his wife Brooke (Shannen Fields) cannot
become pregnant. With all these issues (giants) that Grant is facing, he
begins asking God for help and God begins to change his perspective on
life and his approach to the team.

During the next team meeting, Grant offers anyone $10 if they could
guess the team who won the sports championship 10 years ago or 5 years
ago. When nobody could come up with the correct answer, he tells the
players that trophies and other material awards as well as personal
recognitions, only last for a short while. He then challenges the
players when it comes to their future in life and their true purpose for
playing football as well as creating a new coaching philosophy to focus
on praising God, no matter what the result.

During practice in preparation for their next game against Westview,
Grant calls out one of his influential players, Brock, to do the death
crawl (crawling across the football field with the knees and elbows off
the ground and with another lighter player on top) after hearing him
write off their next game as a loss. Grant tells Brock to crawl to the
50 yard line but makes him do it blindfolded for the purpose of
maximizing his potential. As Brock is struggling, Grant continually
encourages him not to quit along the way and Brock ends up crawling all
the way to the end zone. Grant sees Brock as an emerging leader and
tells him that the team will sink or swim with his attitude. Inspired by
this, the Eagles come together as a team and defeat their opponent.

Under God's guidance and provision, things begin to take a turn for
the better as the players take their studies in school seriously after
earlier boasting about their low grades. There is a revival at the
school as students start openly praying and sharing their burdens with
each other and Grant personally rebukes a player on his team to respect
his father. As a result, the Eagles begin a winning streak resulting in a
post season appearance and a pay raise for Grant, the player who was
earlier rebuked by Grant reconciles with his dad and they secretly buy
Grant a brand new pickup.

During the post season game against Princeton Heights, the Eagles put
up a valiant effort but come up short. Learning from Grant's previous
lessons, they praise God despite the loss. As the team begins packing up
their gear and calling it a season, coach Grant receives a phone call.
Later, he calls an impromptu meeting with the team and informs them that
Princeton Heights has been disqualified for cheating when they played
two ineligible 19 year olds ring the game. As a result, the Eagles
have advanced to the quarterfinals against Tucker whom they defeat
soundly and then advance to the state championship game against the
three-time defending champion Richland Giants.

Even though the Eagles have only a third as many players as the
Giants, the Eagles hold their own and ultimately win the game on a
51-yard field goal from David, the backup kicker who had never kicked
more than a 39-yarder before.

At home, Grant's prayers for children are also answered as Brooke
conceives after four years and the ending shows Grant playing with his
new child with Brooke watching and pregnant again.

那句「There is no charge for awesomeness or attractiveness.」

Kung Fu Panda is a 2008 American animated comedy film. It was directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne and proced by Melissa Cobb. The film was proced by DreamWorks Animation's studio in Glendale, California and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film stars the voices of Jack Black as the panda, Po, along with Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, David Cross, and Ian McShane. Set in ancient China, the plot revolves around a bumbling panda who aspires to be a kung fu master. After a much feared warrior escapes from prison, Po is foretold to be the Dragon Warrior, much to the chagrin of the resident kung fu warriors. Dreamworks is working on a sequel to Kung Fu Panda, which is currently in pre-proction.

Although the concept of a "kung fu panda" has been around since at least 1993, the idea for the film was conceived by Michael Lachance, a DreamWorks Animation executive. Work on the film did not begin until 2004. The film was originally intended to be a parody, but director Stevenson decided to instead shoot an action comedy martial arts film that incorporates the hero's journey narrative archetype for the lead character. The computer animation in the film was more complex than anything DreamWorks had done before. As with most DreamWorks animated films, Hans Zimmer scored Kung Fu Panda. He visited China to absorb the culture and get to know the China National Symphony Orchestra as part of his preparation. (wikipedia)
