審查流程，首先是由製片單位「自審」，再由製片單位向電影局遞交審查申請書，接著就是電審會看片，正式進入審查流程。電影能否通過審查采「委員意見多寡」決定，提的意見越多代表影片問題越大，若委員們無意見則直接通過。

製片單位必須在三十天內，針對電影局的「修改意見」進行修正並回復結果，影片經復審後若無問題，即取得電影局頒發的「電影公映許可證」，復審未通過需繼續修改，除非片商決定不上映，電審會委員掌握電影生殺大權，但審片時卻毋須全部到齊，只要大多數到場即可。
