《玛丽和马克思》，黑白影像的画面外加泥土粘制的人偶的简陋粘土动画片，土得掉渣却蕴含无尽哲理。看惯了大银幕上飞檐走壁的动画电影，再来看《玛丽和马克思》，没有所谓的3D技术，没有程序输入就能做表情的高科技，银幕上所有的一切，只能用“土”来做解释：片中所有人物，都是用泥土捏制完成，虽然影片的形式是稚拙的粘土动画，但影片涉及的却是沉重的话题：关于自杀、酗酒、死亡、性和精神疾病。故事充满了黑色而怪诞的幽默感。

看电影学英语的四大步骤：
第一步：硬着头皮看电影。在看一部新电影之前，千万不要看剧本，看不懂也要硬着头皮上，至少能对情节有所了解。
第二步：边看电影边研读剧本。不要以为考完了托福、GRE等就可以应付一切阅读。实际上，电影中的有些对话看起来很费劲，里面充斥着习惯用法和美国人独有的思维方式，要多看多听，才能适应它。
第三步：反复精听。争取听懂每一个单词，可以采取听写的方法。
