㈡ 電影《古墓麗影》
The prospect of ogling a live action version of Tomb Raider's Lara Croft was the fantasy of every young gamer since the birth of the franchise. When the original Tomb Raider movie was casting, gamers around the globe awaited in sweaty anticipation for the announcement of who would portray their sexy archeologist/adventurer Lara Croft. Choosing the right actress, an athletic looking hottie, would prove difficult. Various Hollywood starlets were considered; even some trade show models were named.
After agonizing over the best pick, Paramount agreed on one of the hottest properties of the moment - Angelina Jolie, recent winner of the Academy Award for her portrayal of a sociopath in Winona Ryder's Girl Interrupted. Would the fans agree with the movie company's choice? Jolie was known to be somewhat of an eccentric. How would that persona play out in shades and guns akimbo??
The answer was given when the first Tomb Raider movie hit theaters in June 2001. It quickly became a smashing success, making $131,168,070 at the box office, thereby guaranteeing sequels. As with most big screen adaptations, the movie has to be its own thing. Rarely does Hollywood capture exactly what every passionate fan has visualized in their minds eye. But, overall, the movie was an acceptable portrayal of the property, and Jolie was as sexy a Lara as was hoped for.
What most endeared Jolie to the fans was the fact that she performed many of Lara's stunts herself - incurring all the bumps and bruises that often entails.. This "Lara-like" boldness undoubtedly helped make the role hers, proving that Jolie has the heart of a Tomb Raider.
That's not all. With money in bank from its previous outing, Paramount has opted for another go, bringing Jolie back as Lara in the upcoming sequel, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, coming July 25th. This time, Lara's in search of a mythological site, and her adventure will span the world from Hong Kong to Tanzania. Expect a lot more stunts, including a motorcycle chase on the Great Wall of China, and an even sexier Lara in this Pandora's Box tale. We doubt a dog will jump through a "time storm" in this one, but we know this Tomb Raider is poised to be the best one of them all.
